National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration

The National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in Warsaw (in 1951–2022 the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration in Warsaw) has the largest gastroenterology department in Poland with a gastroenterology unit, an endoscopy unit, an IBD unit, a biological treatment unit and several outpatient clinics. The department also has the first IBD unit in the country with more than 7000 hospitalisations, 5000 patients and 10000 consultations in the outpatient clinic per year. The department has broad experience in clinical experimental trials.

Role within INTERCEPT

The department team consisting of doctors, dieticians, psychologists, nurses and coordinators of clinical trials and biological treatments cooperate with patient associations on a daily basis. Through this they will directly support WP3, WP4 and WP5 in cooperation with three other centres in Poland (Poznan, Warsaw and Katowice) involved in the care of patients with IBD.

The study team is familiar with the regulatory and ethical procedures related to clinical studies and will hold regular meetings with the satellite departments allowing dissemination of the INTERCEPT study. In addition, they will organise annual Polish training meetings devoted to IBD, such as "Youth Academy", "Experts to Experts" and "Polish IBD Days", which will help popularise the idea of the INTERCEPT study. The INTERCEPT study will also be popularised in social media and communication channels of the National Medical Institute, through patient associations and via social media channels associated with the Polish Gastroenterology Association.
