INTERCEPT at the 10th APDI Congress: Bringing Crohn’s Disease Research Closer to Patients and Families

On 24 October, the INTERCEPT team took part in the 10th Congress of APDI – Associação Portuguesa da Doença Inflamatória do Intestino, bringing together patients, families, researchers and healthcare professionals.

During a roundtable on the prediction and prevention of Crohn’s disease, Joana Torres, Ana Raimundo and Ana Guedes, from GLSMED Learning Health SA/Hospital da Luz, represented INTERCEPT and presented the PREDICT-CD study. The discussion also featured a study participant who shared her first-hand experience of taking part in the research.

The session generated considerable interest among patients and families, particularly in opportunities for first-degree relatives to participate in the PREDICT-CD study. Discussions also explored practical ways to facilitate participation, including the possibility of organising group transportation for those living further from Lisbon to reach the study’s recruitment sites.

For the INTERCEPT team, the event offered another valuable opportunity to connect directly with patients and their families, hear their perspectives and highlight the importance of their involvement in research.
